Abdulla Fouad Holding Co. - CED along with its partner INFOCAD S.A recently hosted the forum 'Towards Implementation of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies' with the participation of Eng. Amer Al Sulaim, Executive Director, Industrial Services Saudi Aramco and Dr. Faleh A. Al-Suleiman, Vice Rector for Technology Development & Industrial Relations and Dr. Amro Al Qutub, Chairman of Mechanical Engineering Department, KFUPM.
The forum focused on how utilizing technologies can greatly increase the competitiveness of companies in producing industrial goods and give them an advantage in the global economy.
Abdulla Fouad together with INFOCAD secured the participation of leading innovators, Scott Crump, CEO of Stratasys Inc., USA the world leader in Rapid Prototyping and Direct Digital Manufacturing technology, and Michael Kugelgen of MK Technology, the leaders in short-run technology for plastic and metal parts and patented technology for rapid investment casting systems.
The innovators used real industry examples of companies leveraging the technology in order to demonstrate the value it provides in new product development.
The presenters at the forum discussed how the technologies were complementary and in most cases, where demanding applications were required for new product development such as the Automotive, Aerospace & Defence industries, many different technologies would be integrated for product development in order to optimize the streamlining of the processes.
The CEO of INFOCAD S.A. discussed the importance that enhanced product development plays in gaining a competitive advantage.
He also showed that generic technology could be utilized by the majority of industrial companies, who would require some complementary or customized solutions for specific industry vertical sectors.
Reverse Engineering and Quality Assurance using the latest 3D laser scanning systems can also play an important role in bringing better quality products to market faster. RE/QC expert, Stephan Amann from INFOCAD S.A., discussed means of using this technology to improve product quality and conform to international standards.
The afternoon sessions of the forum were dedicated to Engineers who were interested in an up-close view of the technical aspects of hardware & software for rapid product development.
