Food outlets face inspections
- Bahrain: Saturday, May 17 - 2008 at 08:04
Fast food outlets, restaurants, bakeries and caterers face spot inspections by the Ministry of Health in Bahrain as the country kicks off its summer campaign to ensure the quality of food sold to the public. Thirty inspectors will check outlets to make sure that food is properly stored during the hot months, when contamination is more likely. Anyone found to be selling unfit food will be fined first time. Health inspectors will also hold hygiene workshops on best practice for preserving food. Last year, 43 shops were shut for selling food unfit for human consumption.
