$1m prize at Mideast movie festival

The Middle East International Firm Festival has announced big new cash prizes for the best films it showcases this year. The Black Pearl Awards have a total prize fund of $1m, plus three student prizes of $25,000 each and three $25,000 awards for the International Competition for Advertising. The festival will be held at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi in October.
