The newly created scheme will provide funds to students with financial needs to help them achieve their educational goals.
The SRC announced the beginning of the Student Aid Fund at its 2nd Annual SRC Bazaar, held Monday, 12th May, on the ADWC campus.
SRC President Souad Al Housani announced the amount of funds raised by the SRC and explained that the monies would be used to help financial aid students in the various areas where they may have additional needs.
A cheque for the donation was presented to Dr. Brad Cook, ADWC's Director, and the SRC challenged the ADWC community to continue contributing to the fund.
Dr. Cook accepted the cheque and congratulated the SRC members on their commitment to help others and on their accomplishment in raising the funds.
Dr. Cook then announced that in an effort to encourage the students to continue in their good deeds, ADWC would match the funds raised, dirham for dirham, so that the Student Aid Fund would start with the significant amount of Dhs20,000.
'We are very pleased and honored to accept this cheque from the SRC,' stated Dr. Cook, 'and we are happy about the work this SRC is doing. It shows their commitment to leadership and their desire to create opportunities for their fellow students. As a college, we are committed to seeing our students become the best and brightest in the nation, and their desire to help their fellow students is to be commended'.
The SRC intends to continue contributing to the Student Aid Fund each year by raising monies through various activities such as the Annual Bazaar.
Over 33 student and alumnae vendors participated in this year's bazaar where they sold products from their own businesses.
The vendors rented booth and exhibition space through the SRC and those monies were used to contribute to the Student Aid Fund.
