Jordan to build green city

  • Jordan: Saturday, May 17 - 2008 at 10:57

Jordan is to build a green city on the outskirts of Amman. It has asked the master planners of Masdar in Abu Dhabi to design a similar city, only 10 times bigger. It would house around 700,000 people, rising to one million people after five years. Masdar is a $15bn carbon-neutral, zero waste city that will house 50,000 people in Abu Dhabi. Jordan’s as yet unnamed city will be environmentally efficient, developers said. The first homes in the city should be ready by early 2014.
