Global skin care product sales to exceed Dhs164bn by 2010

Spectacular growth in skin care products for almost every skin situation including acne, anti-aging, sensitive skin, dry skin, oily skin, and make up care among others has propelled the global skin care market that is set to exceed Dhs164bn in sales by 2010.

Beautyworld Middle East, the most successful event of its kind in the entire Middle East, is cashing in on this global trend as more international skin care manufacturers eye the region.

"Skin care products form the second largest segment in the cosmetics and toiletries industry, after hair care products and the global skin care products industry is experiencing exponential growth, driven by the increased consumer demand for anti-aging, skin whitening, other medicated range of creams, lotions and cleansers," remarked Eckhard Pruy, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organizers of Beautyworld Middle East.

Pollution, aging and an increasing awareness about skin care are key factors stimulating industry growth.

While women constitute a major category for manufacturers of skin care products, there is a significantly higher uptake of skin care products among male consumers than in the past.

Beautyworld Middle East, which runs alongside Wellness and Spas, is the region's most popular cosmetic and personal care exhibition, now in its 13th year.

It will host 850 exhibitors representing 1,650 brands from 50 countries. There will also be 31 country pavilions participating.

It opens its doors this year from May 18-20, 2008 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, with an expected visitor attendance of 15,000 from 100 countries.
