Royal Jet's Fixed Base Operations (FBO) facility has been voted the best in the Middle East and in the world's top 5 by Aviation International News magazine, in a survey it made of its pilot readership.
The private charter group, headquartered in Abu Dhabi and chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, has its own purpose-built base, which it has run since 2003, close to Terminal 2 of Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Last year Royal Jet saw a 90% increase in traffic at its FBO.

The award comes as Royal Jet celebrates its fifth anniversary. Just weeks ago it was voted the World's Leading Private Jet Charter by the WTA, and this itself came just months after Royal Jet won another prestigious award - Business Jet Provider of the Year - at the Aviation Business Awards ceremony in Dubai.

Sheikh Hamdan said he was indeed honoured, to receive this latest award from A.I.N. magazine.

"As a private charter operator, our success is primarily due to our focused service offerings. Our service pedigree reflects our founding by the Abu Dhabi Royal [Amiri] Flight and this translates through every facet of our business right through to our FBO facilities today," he said.

"The secret is fusing together customer-focused staff with operational people and in this regard our staff are second to none in crossing over between the two roles," he added.

Royal Jet's CEO, Shane O'Hare explained that Royal Jet's FBO handles all executive aircraft landing at Abu Dhabi's International Airport through its VIP terminal where it has its own maintenance headquarters and two VIP lounges to receive clients flying on Royal Jet or arriving on any other executive aircraft.

"Royal Jet passengers can arrive within 20 minutes prior to departure, allowing our staff to take care of their immigration and luggage clearance procedures. A limousine pick up and drop off can be arranged from and to the airport. Modern, luxurious first-class passenger and crew facilities combined with premier maintenance capabilities reflect total dedication to quality, whilst Royal Jet crew, customer service agents, technicians and the maintenance support team symbolise Royal Jet values and drive our reputation as service leaders," he said.

"Royal Jet's FBO currently receives around 150 aircraft per month, offering a fast turnaround service, as well as allowing clients a technical stop-over on their way from the Far East to Europe or vice versa to refuel at highly competitive prices, check the aircraft for maintenance and upload catering without wasting any of the client's valuable time.

"As the dominant charter operator here, we are in a strong position to develop facilities in the overall region and to make Abu Dhabi the premier business aviation hub in the Middle East," O'Hare continued.

"We have recently formed a group dedicated to improving our hospitality and aviation training yet further in order to advance our standards even more -both on our aircraft and at our FBO facilities. It's like running a great hotel with strong front and back of house staff. The customer sees timeliness, sensitivity, privacy and unmatched hospitality at Royal Jet's FBO and we regularly receive high-profile customers there. The more control we have over the customer experience on the ground, the better for our overall business," he concluded.
