An agreement was formally signed by both parties at a press conference held on May 19th 2008.
Hosted at the JSC headquarters, the press meeting was attended by Umniah's CEO Mr. Joseph Hanania, CEO of Jordan Speed Center Mr. Tareq Al Bitar, Mr. Omar Omoush, Director of Marketing and Customer Advocacy, and representatives of the Jordanian media and other influential figures.
'We were keen on forming this partnership with JSC, as we at Umniah believe in this new sport, which is a new promising sport in Jordan that is attracting a large number of youth', explained Mr. Hanania.
'By materializing this agreement, we are doing our part for supporting Jordanian sports in general and young Jordanian motorists in particular. We hope that this partnership will help strengthen Jordan's presence on the international map of sports, as we anticipate that it will serve as a stepping stone for similar prospective involvements for us in the future', He added.
During the event, media representatives were given the opportunity to experience JSC's karting facilities first hand. They learned more about the features that JSC's vehicles encompass, and enjoyed free karting rides.
Umniah enjoys an achievement-filled track record within the Jordanian motoring scene. Last March, it was recognized as the first place winner of JSC's Karting Telecom League, a title gained through victory over Jordan's telecommunication service providers and GSM operators.
Mother company and official owner of Umniah, Bahrain Telecommunications Company, Batelco had its shares of involvements in regional and international motor sports arenas. The company currently has its hopes set on taking part in various motoring events taking place in Europe. This decision was made by its management in light of the phenomenal achievements its Karting team had made in the Thailand's 24-Hour Race last February.
Driving alongside motorists from Germany, Portugal, the UAE, France, Morocco and others, Bateclo's team achieved 5th place. The team is currently gearing up for the Dubai Nivea Endurance Challenge, which is set to be hosted in Dubai on May 30th and 31st 2008.
To reiterate it's commitment to the youth, Umniah recently formed a partnership with Al Riyadi Basketball Club of Jordan, a club that offers intensive basketball training for young basketball enthusiasts. Through its activities, it strives to offer the youth of today a means to better utilize their talents and potential.
Umniah forms strategic partnership with Jordan Speed Center
Further solidifying its role as an advocate and pioneering supporter of Jordanian sports, Umniah recently announced its strategic partnership with the Jordan's karting facility, the Jordan Speed Center (JSC).
