"Egypt continues to be a strategic target for the Rezidor Hotel Group and the opening of this signature property in the country's capital and commercial centre underlines the importance placed on this key market,"
said Jean-Marc Busato, Area Vice President, Rezidor.
"This property located closely to the city's main airport terminals will be an important addition to the city's expanding hospitality portfolio and will also be a benchmark for service and excellence going forward."
The Radisson SAS Hotel, Cairo is the latest property to be announced from The Rezidor Hotel Group as it pursues its strategy of opening 20,000 new rooms in total by 2009.
The Brussels-based group currently has four properties operating in the country, which will rise to six by the end of the year. The Cairo property opening, and another Radisson SAS in Egypt's second largest city, Alexandria, will swell the group's room stock to nearly 2,000 rooms by the end of 2008.
"Our growing portfolio in Egypt reflects the country's increasing dynamism and its regional and international tourism appeal as a leading leisure and business destination," added Busato.
Egypt, with its warm climate, beaches and unique archaeological sites, is one of the most beloved destinations in the world. People from far and wide have been attracted for centuries to its ancient civilisation and some of the world's most famous monuments including The Pyramids and its Great Sphinx.
With a steadily growing economy, Egypt attracts a significant number of corporate and leisure visitors, particularly to Cairo and the Sinai Peninsula. The Egyptian capital is the main commercial centre and the largest city in the Arab world. Cairo has long been an important commercial and cultural centre dominating the region with its rich historical, cultural and religious attractions.
