More than 3500 students visit the Gulf Medical College Annual Medical & Science Exhibition 2008

Students from various leading schools in UAE participated in the second GMC Annual Medical & Science Exhibition 2008 held at Gulf Medical College Ajman.

The two day event attracted more than 3500 students from various schools to visit the exhibition. The exhibition included not only hand-made models by students of grade 10th, 11th & 12th but also poster and audio-visual presentations. Along with the contest, the participants and visitors were given a chance to learn from exhibits displayed by various departments from MBBS & BPT programs in the form of specimens, cadavers, life like manikins and simulators.

The judgment was done by a panel of doctors and prizes were given away by the chief guest Prof. Mohammed Arifulla, Director New Programmes Development & Associate Dean HOD Pharmacology - GMCA, in different categories like Models & Posters.

The winners are as follows:

CATEGORY A
1st Prize - Ever Lasting Energy - Prestine Pvt. School, Dubai
2nd Prize - A Light Follower Robert - Sharjah American International School, Dubai
3rd Prize - Hazards of Smoking - DPS, Jebel Ali
Best Poster - Long Live the Liver - Prestine Pvt. School, Dubai

CATEGORY B
1st Prize - Aerodynamics - Emirates English Speaking School, Dubai
2nd Prize - Van De Graff Generator - Sharjah American International School, Sharjah
3rd Prize - Solar Energy - Our Own Indian School, Dubai
Best Poster - Embryonie Development in Human - DPS, Sharjah

CATEGORY C
1st Prize - Model of Oil Rig - Our Own Indian School, Dubai
2nd Prize - Ruben's Tube - Al Ameer English School, Ajman
3rd Prize - Haemodialyser - Sharjah Indian School, Sharjah
Best Poster - Mysteries behind Aids - Yet to be solved - New Indian Model School, Sharjah

The popularity of the event was evident from the fact that a number of reputed companies like Al Marai, Al Mutanabbi Bookshop, GSK, Tiffany, Lipton Tea, Knorr Soup, Dunkin Dounuts, Mr.Krisps, Body & Soul Health Club, and Blends & Brews Coffee Shop sponsored this event.

Gulf Medical College announced the new courses planned to start in September 2008 subject to approval from the Ministry of Higher education and scientific Research. The enquiry for the following programs Doctor of Dental Medicine-DMD* Doctor of Pharmacy* - Pharm.D has already started at GMC.

About Gulf Medical College Ajman

The Gulf Medical College Ajman, owned by THUMBAY GROUP was established with the Decree No. 1, dated 28 January, issued by His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al-Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, U.A.E in the year 1998 as there was a felt need for a medical college in the region. The college offers M.B.B.S-Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, B.P.T-Bachelor of Physiotherapy programs, GMC-RACGP- Fellowship Program in Family Practice and GMC & McKenzie Institute, New Zealand offers postgraduate program in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy. The main aim is to impart high quality medical education. This is the first medical school in the region, which offers admissions to both boys and girls of all nationalities.
