Qatar enjoys 'boom town' economics

Qatar's soaring gas market and rapidly growing knowledge industry is set to ensure the country, and the banking sector, enjoy 'boom town' economics for some time, according to a new report by investment bank EFG-Hermes. The report examines Qatar's rapid move towards a diversified economy and its impact on the local banking industry. The initiation of over $120bn of gas, infrastructure and other major development projects, will boost Qatar's real GDP growth to double digits, the report predicts, while inflation will push nominal growth into the high teens.
