This year sees a remarkable 104% increase from the previous event held in 2006.

The UAE, Iran, and USA were the top three countries submitting the highest number of abstracts, followed by China.

Final papers selected by the committee will be presented during the ADIPEC 2008 Conference taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 3 - 6 November.

The Conference's executive and technical committees identified seven 'hot topics' and announced a call for papers.

Based on the abstract topics submitted, key areas of focus for the upcoming Conference will be Field Development, Geoscience and Engineering Factors in Achieving Excellence.

Seven technical committees, comprising some of the industry's leading experts, carefully reviewed and voted on the 840 abstracts.

The committees' selection of the final abstracts for the Conference contained significant new knowledge or experience in a relevant field.

Out of the 840 abstracts, 240 received above a grade 4 out of 6, demonstrating the higher quality of papers being considered for the ADIPEC 2008 Conference.

The technical presentations and panel sessions at the conference will focus on sustainability, risk management, new technology and talent management.

The ADIPEC Conference, organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, has gained a reputation as a meeting of minds for the global oil and gas industry.

This year's conference 'Working Together to Deliver Sustainable Growth: Innovative Teams & Technology Deployment,' is certain to provoke informed discussion and debate amongst global industry leaders and researchers.

The Conference will bring together more than 200 international speakers delivering keynote addresses and participating in executive panels, 26 technical sessions and 10 executive panels.

Commenting on the importance of the Conference, Mr Ali R. Al Jawan, ADIPEC 2008 Conference Chairman said:

'ADIPEC 2008 will see one of the world's largest gatherings of oil & gas experts, business leaders, and dignitaries whose focus will be towards productivity, sustainability, and diversification. As oil prices continue to reach record highs with no downturn in sight, the ADIPEC 2008 Conference will be a decisive time for delegates from all over the world to represent their nations' views and advise on future sustainability.'

'It is expected, based, on available data, that ADIPEC 2008 will record approximately 100% growth in both the conference and the exhibition. The outstanding quality of the event and programme will make this a world class, premier event for the energy industry at large,' added Mr. Al Jawan.

ADIPEC 2008 expects to host between 35,000 - 40,000 industry executives who are spearheading the growth and development of the global oil & gas industry.

For professionals, government officials and key influencers in the global oil and gas industry, ADIPEC is an essential event on the international trade exhibition and conference calendar.

It is the only international oil & gas show with representation from major international and national oil companies (IOCs & NOCs) such as Halliburton, BP, Saudi Aramco and ADNOC.
