New Zealand Defence delegation visits the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research

The Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) received on Thursday 22nd of May 2008, The New Zealand Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant General Jeremiah Mateparae accompanied by Mr.Brigadier Neville Reilly, Defence Attache at the New Zealand Embassy to the UAE, Squadron Leader Ron Logan, Military Assistant to Chief of Defence Force and Warrant Officer John Barclay, Defence Force Warrant Officer.

In their visit to the ECSSR, a brief presentation about the different departments of the Center was given. The delegation was also briefed about the different activities that contribute to enriching research in different fields including politics, economy and strategic.

Following this, the delegation visited the U.A.E Federation Library, which is the largest specialized library in the Emirates, with a collection of 200,000 titles and 1,000 journals and periodicals.

They also visited the Media Department where they were briefed on its daily functions, which comprise daily monitoring of local and global events and issuing Akhbar Al-Sa'ah (News of the Hour).

At the end of the visit, the delegation expressed their appreciation for the huge work of the ECSSR in the role of research.

They also admired the publications of the Center which include current and future strategic issues.
