This is the first time that an international volleyball tournament is being held in Abu Dhabi and the Middle East.
"Sponsorship is one of the key strategies of ADNH. Our sponsorship of this major tournament is to reinforce our commitment in sports and social activities in the UAE and in promoting Abu Dhabi as a world-class venue for sports," said HE Saif Mohammed Al Hajeri, Chairman of ADNH.
"This is also to show our support for women's sports in general and recognize and respect the remarkable contribution to the world of sports by women," he added.
Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Presidential Affairs, the women's volleyball tournament will feature teams from America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Over 500 million audiences worldwide are expected to view the games which will be aired by major television channels from around the world.
