The Abu Dhabi local chapter of AIESEC - the world's largest youth organization, organized a Women Leadership Conference to support Emirati women towards a more active role in society and to inspire Emirati students towards personal development and leadership.
The conference was under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Salama Bint Tahnoon Bin Saeed Al Nahyan and official guest was H.H. Sheikha Latifa Bint Zayed Al Nahyan.
Through a series of inspiring live stories by successful Emirati women - social and business leaders, the conference offered an inspiration and example of female leadership to the young Emirati girls attending the event.
The one-day conference ran in Arabic with a simultaneous translation in English thus creating a unique environment for current and future female leadership to connect and learn from each other.
"Following the AIESEC's strive to activate youth leadership who is well- aware of the issues with great local relevance - the members AIESEC in Abu Dhabi turned their passion towards the issue in a great event to connect successful local women with Emirati students and inspire them for leadership.", said Fatima Al Baloushi, Project Director of the Women Project and elected president of AIESEC Abu Dhabi. "I am very proud with the fact that we managed to inspire and empower so many young Emirati women today not only through the admirable speakers and their truly inspiring stories, but also through the fact that this event was organized solely by young Emirati women themselves- the members of AIESEC Abu Dhabi And this is actually is what makes this project unique - it is organized by young local female students for local female students.", noted Fatima who is a student herself, majoring Media and Communication at the Abu Dhabi Women's College.
The invited speakers were all successful women who have managed to become respected leaders in their own field in spite of different barriers they had encountered.
The conference concluded with interactive discussion panel during which the delegates could directly ask questions and contribute to the discussion.
This first edition of the AIESEC Women Leadership Conference was sponsored by ADNOC - Distribution and National Bank of Abu Dhabi.
The project would not have been possible without the support of Abu Dhabi Women's College and Mr. Khalifa al Muhairi through Abu Dhabi 2030 R&D for their overall support of AIESEC Abu Dhabi.
