Under the theme 'Green Network, Green Africa', Huawei demonstrated its fourth-generation multi-mode integration base station. This technology is primarily designed to help operators address challenges related to the environment, cost saving and protecting short and long term investment. By deploying this most innovative base station available in the market, it also enables operators to make considerable savings in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and ensure a smooth migration path between applications such as 2G, 3G, Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and Long Term Evolution (LTE).
Huawei's fourth-generation Base Transceiver Station (BTS) platform can bridge the gap between different types of communication standards to achieve the best integration and performance. The innovative multi-band PA technology increases equipment capability efficiently, reduces power consumption, heat dissipation and space requirements.
Ihab Ghattas, Chief Business Development Office for Huawei in the MENA region, said: 'Huawei fully understands its customers' needs and by keeping abreast of these needs, and investing intensely in research and development, we are able to deliver innovative products that truly meet the market's requirements. Huawei's green site solution is a perfect example of how Huawei can make a difference.'
At the event Huawei also exhibited its Green Energy Solutions including solar power, solar-wind hybrid power, and diesel-battery hybrid power solutions. These can be used in combination and are flexible to install. They also provide telecommunication-level reliability that can help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 60% and cut overhead costs by at least 30%.
Huawei's solar-wind hybrid power supply system provides stable power to the fourth-generation multi-mode integration base stations. This solution has been deployed in the sweltering desert regions of North Africa, where strong sand storm often occur in spring.
