Tech Data slashes handling charges

The move represents a substantial savings for resellers placing orders with Tech Data and the cost saving will be absorbed by Tech Data. "By building efficiencies into the logistics management process, we have been able to drive this cost saving for resellers," said Adnan Al-Falah, sales director at Tech Data FZ-LLC. "The move means that we can add to reseller profitability and bring yet more relief to their margins."

Last year, Tech Data cut the cost of shipping technology products to the Gulf region by over half through the company's Bahrain based hub operation: the costs of shipments to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia's eastern and central provinces and Qatar saw major reductions. "Through processing orders from Tech Data's logistic center in Bahrain, IT resellers in the Gulf have in the past been able to save up to and above 50% on their freight costs," said Al-Falah. "Today we continue bringing cost benefits to the channel however through streamlining our own handling processes and expanding our capacity to absorb more cost previously incurred by our customers," he commented.
