Senior officials from the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, and Sharjah Commerce Tourism and Development Authority in addition to representatives from various travel and tourism agencies, were present at the Open Day. The event served as a platform to showcase the status of the UAE's booming travel and tourism sector, highlighting the numerous career opportunities available to Nationals in this sphere.
H.E. Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer said,
"We sent invitations to several companies from the travel and tourism sector to give them a chance to contribute to the emiratisation initiatives in the UAE. The companies from this sector have the potential to work closely with Tanmia and provide suitable employment opportunities to National jobseekers. The tourism sector currently contributes 10 per cent to the national GDP, and is expected to play a bigger role in the coming years with the steady increase in the number of hotel tourism projects in the country."
"The UAE's growing prominence as a leisure and business tourism hub in the region has significantly boosted the travel and tourism industry in the country in recent years, while playing a crucial role in economic diversification. One of the factors that have made the UAE a preferred holiday destination is the fact that the country perfectly blends traditional Arab culture with modernity. According to the recently released Competitive Capability Index, the UAE was rated as the best Arab tourism destination and was ranked among top 20 out of 124 holiday destinations around the world, highlighting that the tourism sector, which has attracted over AED 257 billion in investments, presents numerous job opportunities for Nationals," said Feddah Lootah, Acting General Manager, Tanmia.
During the Open Day - which featured several interactive sessions - representatives from the travel and tourism sector were provided a brief about the courses specifically meant for the travel and tourism industry.
