UIB was a Gold strategic partner at the 4th annual World Islamic Capital Market conference that took place in Bahrain on 26th and 27th May 2008.
UIB Shari'a Board Chairman Sheikh Esam Ishaq and UIB's Head of Shari'a compliance Dr. Mohammed Arbouna participated in the World Islamic Capital Market Conference open panel discussion which addressed the challenges faced by the Islamic investments industry.
Mr. Abdulla Janahi, General Manager and Acting Chief Executive Officer of UIB commented "We feel that holding conferences in Bahrain that are of interest to Islamic banks helps maintain the country's pioneer position in the global Islamic banking sector. UIB is committed to participating in these events to help highlight their importance in building and promoting this growing sector and we take even greater interest in them when they address topics of relevance to Shari'a compliant private equity investments."
UIB is a Bahrain based investment bank with an authorized capital of $2.5bn and a paid up capital of $291m.
Established in the second half of 2006, UIB's principal line of business is to provide Shari'a compliant private equity and asset based investments to its investors in the GCC.
UIB's shareholders include leading corporate investors and high net-worth individuals from the GCC.
