The Emirates Green Sun project put together by the International School of Arts and Sciences in Dubai grabbed the top prize in the competition this year, with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum High School walking away with the honours as the Best UAE National Team.

The competition drew the participation of 102 teams in 12 categories from 23 public and private schools in Dubai.

The gala awards ceremony held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre brought together senior government officials, school administrators, students and their parents, as well as a large number of distinguished guests.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and the Dubai World Trade Centre, the organisers of the UAE Careers Fair 2008, were specially commended during the ceremony for their strong support to the Young Entrepreneur Competition this year.

The Competition organizers also acknowledged the jury committee and honoured the panelists for their dedication and perseverance in reviewing the projects to choose the winners.

Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO of Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders, said: 'Dubai relentlessly seeks to foster entrepreneurship as a viable platform for employment generation, while increasing the integration of youth into the domestic business sectors.

'The Young Entrepreneur Competition stimulates creativity, hones the business acumen of youth and encourages them to demonstrate their innovative ideas and leadership qualities. It provides valuable hands on experience to groom the younger generation on the principal elements of entrepreneurship.'

Launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders in 2005, the competition draws the participation of school students across the UAE, seeking to promote the benefits of self-employment through granting participants a simulated business platform for designing, launching and operating their own entrepreneurial concepts.
