Amar Holding appoints Al Bastaki as CEO

The Board of Directors of Amar Holding Company B.S.C (c) has appointed Dr. Hasan Al-Bastaki as Chief Executive Officer for the company, responsible for developing an investment area in Al-Hidd City located near the Bahrain International Airport and the Khalifa bin Salman Port.

Al Salam Bank-Bahrain has set up Amar Holding Company in partnership with strategic investors.

Dr. Al-Bastaki is a renowned professional figure who held various top positions amongst which were the Secretary General of the Bahrain Studies and Researches Center at the rank of undersecretary, an Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Education, and an Executive Manager at Ernst & Young, Bahrain.

In the academic world, Dr. Al-Bastaki held a number of administrative and teaching positions at the University of Bahrain. These included Vice President for Finance & Administration, Dean of the College of Business, and Chairman of the Department of Accounting. He was also a Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas, USA.

Dr. Al-Bastaki holds a B.Sc. degree in Accounting from the King Saud University, Saudi Arabia; an MBA (major Accounting) and Ph.D. in Accounting both from Texas, USA. He has over 21 years of experience in the public, private, and academic sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain and North America.

Marking the appointment of Dr. Hasan, the Company's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Yousif Taqi, said that Dr. Al-Bastaki's competence and proficiency qualified him to be nominated and elected as the company's CEO. His distinct performance during the past period as Executive Vice President at Al Salam Bank-Bahrain B.S.C. was a convincing factor for the company's Board to select him to this new prominent post, Taqi added.

He pointed out that this venture would provide essential facilities to set up investment projects, which would create a strong and suitable foundation for technology transfer inwards.

Setting up this investment-attracting company gives strong impetus to efforts aiming at creating high-income job opportunities for qualified Bahrainis and, thus, boosts the base of technically competent human resources, Taqi noted.

(Closed) incorporated on 24 January 2008 in the Kingdom of Bahrain; it is a holding Company for a group of companies established by Al Salam Bank - Bahrain B.S.C. and number of strategic investors.
