Knowledge of Islamic banking lacking

The number of Islamic banks and financial institutions around the world has increased from 276 in 2005 to over 470 in 2007, according to Saleh Kamil, chairman of the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions. However, he said more investment in education and training in the industry was needed as nearly 85% of the more than 300,000 employees working in Islamic banking lacked knowledge of Shariah because they have studied conventional banking systems.
