3Gg services remain a luxury in ME

The third generation of mobile phone specifications and technology (3G) has struggled to gain a foothold in most countries in the Middle East despite its seven years of existence and the emergence of 3.5G, a top official told Gulf News. Bashar Dahabra, Founder and CEO of Info2cell.com, said current penetration of 3G mobile in the region is one per cent. Not enough suitable content for 3G services is available in the region mainly because of low sales of high-end, 3G-enabled mobile phones, he added.
