IDL launches diamond laser inscription service
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, June 03 - 2008 at 10:47
- PRESS RELEASE
To protect the identity of diamonds, International Diamond Laboratories (IDL) has launched a laser inscription service which allows customers to have their diamond certificate number inscribed on the stone for security.
Speaking of the latest service from IDL, Peter Meeus, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company said: "There is a growing trend for laser inscription worldwide for protecting the identity of the diamond and also for personalizing the jewellery with simple messages, names or symbols, to be viewed in privacy. Especially for Valentine's Day, Mothers' Day, Fathers' Day or Diwali and other cultural or religious celebrations, the laser inscription adds a personal message to the diamond which is given."
"The laser inscription is a guarantee that you diamond is not replaced with another and is the same as the one described on the certificate you obtained, "he added.
The cold laser technology IDL employs takes only a few seconds.
The minimum font size for the laser inscription is 30 micron (= 0.03 mm) and the size of the diamond depends on the thickness of the girdle and should be at least 20 pointers (0.20 carat) or more.
In Dubai, customers can avail this service from IDL's facility in the Gold Land Building at Gold Souq.
An initiative of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, IDL is committed to ensuring consumer confidence in diamonds.
Apart from laser inscription services, IDL offers diamond certificates that define the 4 C's - carats, colour, clarity and cut- of a diamond, guaranteeing its quality and value. It is the only diamond laboratory in the world that offers Arabic certificates.
