Contributing to the Fund a sum of JD300,000, USAID committed to bettering the lives of Al-Aman Fund's beneficiaries, orphaned and abandoned youth graduating from orphan care centers across the Kingdom, by giving them the education and tools needed to become productive self-reliant members of the Jordanian community.

The sum offered by USAID will be used to secure vocational and academic educational scholarships, support psychosocial counseling activities, and provide training on employability and life skills, as well as secure health insurance for beneficiaries of Al-Aman Fund.

USAID's partnership with Jordan is one that goes back 50 years, tackling challenges in areas such as economic growth, educational reform, and health care.

With the recognition that the beneficiaries of Al-Aman Fund are a group that critically needs the attention and guidance of society in order to support themselves and the Jordanian economy, USAID openhandedly committed to the Fund's cause.

This support was made possible by funds provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to the Government of Jordan under the Cash Transfer Local Currency Program.

Thanking USAID for the generous gesture, Executive Director of Al-Aman Fund, Ms. Maha Saqqa said, 'Financial independence is extremely difficult for young Jordanian men and women today, and even more so for the disadvantaged youth that lack the necessary skills and social networks to help them with their experiences in the job market.'

She further explained that in light of Jordan's soaring rates of inflation, today's youth are faced with more challenges than ever before. She added, 'Al-Aman Fund is devoted to securing educational opportunities for Jordan's orphaned youth. Lacking other means of support, orphaned youth graduating from Jordanian care centers can only be guided towards a brighter future through knowledge and education. Al-Aman Fund, therefore, allocates its resources to programs that provide sustainable support to its beneficiaries, helping them to thrive in the business world and successfully depend on themselves. Day by day, we are moving closer towards Her Majesty Queen Rania's vision of creating a better tomorrow for Jordan's orphaned youth, and it is generous donations like this one that make this possible. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation for all of their help and for their support of this noble cause.'

It is important to note that Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans is an independent non-governmental organization founded in 2006 by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah.

It equips orphaned youth, who graduated from orphan care centers at the age of 18, with the education and skills necessary for them to become successful, self-reliant, and productive members of society.

This is done by operating five Support Schemes; educational scholarships, coverage of living expenses, counseling, apprenticeship & employment, and medical insurance.
