'We are committed to expansion in the African market,' said AK Nizar, Head of Commercial Department, Air Arabia. 'Africa has always featured prominently in our business model and future expansion plans. We recognise the enormous potential of this burgeoning region, and feel this expansion in the number of flights to Khartoum is representative of the increased attention being paid to the economy of Sudan by businesses based in the Middle East.'

Khartoum was one of Air Arabia's first destinations, with service to the Sudanese capital launched in 2004.

In addition to Khartoum, Air Arabia flies to three other destinations in North Africa: Alexandria, Assuit and Luxor.

In November, Air Arabia announced its new hub in Rabat, Morocco, as part of a joint venture with Moroccan airline Regional Air Lines.

This venture will soon allow Air Arabia to expand throughout the North Africa region, as well as into Europe and Sub-Saharan West Africa.

The additional flights will end on October 25, 2008.
