The regional celebration will take place under the patronage of H.H. Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate and Head of The Public Commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment & Wildlife.
The event, for invited guests only, will take place on June 5th at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel & Spa. The list of invitees includes ambassadors, Ministry representatives, representatives from NGO's and representatives from the United Nations.
Representative from Batelco, UNEP and the Public Commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment & Wildlife will give speeches to mark the occasion.

UNEP's world-wide celebration will be held in New Zealand this year. World Environment Day is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates world-wide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.
'Batelco is delighted to host the UNEP's regional celebrations this year and contribute to highlighting the major issues surrounding protecting the Gulf Region for future generations,' said Batelco Group Board Secretary and Company Spokesman Ahmed Al Janahi.
'At Batelco we are becoming continually more aware of the necessity to 'think green' and we are currently looking at ways in which we can become more involved in environmental programmes.'
