DP World wins prestigious Port Authority & Terminal Operator of the Year

The Port Authority & Terminal Operator of the Year Award is given to the port authority or terminal operator that has consistently delivered world-class services and facilities across the Middle East in the past 12 months.

The prestigious award was presented to DP World at a ceremony held at the Al Murooj Rotana in Dubai.

The ceremony gathered over 200 top executives from the Middle East transportation and logistics industries.

Accepting the award on behalf of DP World, Dirk Van Den Bosch, Chief Commercial Officer for DP World's UAE region said: 'We are delighted DP World has been recognised with this prestigious award. DP World's commitment to quality and innovation across our Middle East and global operations is testament to our management and staff whose commitment allows us to provide our customers world class facilities and service.'

Tariq Bin Khalifa, DP World UAE region's Commercial Director, added: 'We continue to focus on being where our customers need us to be and our portfolio goes from strength to strength within the region and beyond. We have added DP World Sokhna in Egypt to our network this year and we are currently rolling out the second phase of terminal two at our flagship Jebel Ali facility. In addition, we are involved in the development of Khalifa Port in Taweelah, Abu Dhabi.'

The SCATA 2008 awards consisted of 16 categories in total, covering the logistics, sea freight and air cargo sectors.

DP World sponsored the Corporate Social Responsibility Award, with DP World's Senior Vice President, Strategy, Anwar Wajdi, presenting the trophy to Samer Hajjar, General Manager, Aramex.

Now in its second year, the annual Supply Chain & Transport Awards set out to honour the regional and international players that continue to raise the standards of the Middle East logistics industry.

Nominations were submitted online and assessed by a panel of experts from all sectors of the Middle East logistics industry.
