"The communications sector in the UAE still commands the attention of major international companies operating in the ICT sector on grounds of the current high growth rates and the open policies as well as liberalization adopted by the regional markets, which made it the hub of large numbers of international communications companies," said Mr. Firas Al Jabi, General Manager of ITQAN. Recent studies have revealed the involvement of the Middle East countries to the extent of spending nearly $40bn on information technology by the end of this year, 23% of which will be the share of the Gulf states.
