Employers' Day aims at increasing the number of students and graduates to participate in Dubai's challenging work environment and society at large.
This year, more than 54 employers of leading organizations representing the government, semi-government, and private sectors are participating and advertising several full-time, part-time and summer employment vacancies during the day.
Employers got to interview and immediately employ qualified UAE nationals, networked with the students, faculty and staff, and were able to present their organizations' profiles and services to interested visitors.
Participating organizations represented a wide variety of industries in Dubai and included Al Futtaim Group, HSBC Bank, Jumeirah Group, Barclays Bank, Dubai Statistics Center, Global Village, Tanmia, Dubai Media Incorporated, Dubai International Financial Center, Nakheel, Proctor and Gamble Gulf, Microsoft, Al Tayer Group, Emirates Post, Tejari FZ LLC, Knowledge Network, United Arab Shipping Company, National Bank of Um Al Qaiwain, UAE Exchange Center, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Dubai Courts, Tiara Palm Hotel Dubai, Dubai Duty Free, Emirates NBD, Dubai World Trade Center, Tamweel PJSC, Hewlett Packard, Dubai Petroleum, Oman Insurance Company, Dubai Islamic Insurance, Dubai Islamic Insurance, and others.
During the day, DWC graduates and students got the chance to meet with participating Dubai employers and discussed possible employment opportunities with them.
Students and graduates were interviewed and received competitive employment offers from several employers.
'Since employment of our graduates is a vital strategic priority of DWC, it is very important that we bring the best employers to participate in this event. We want to see our graduates work in every industry in Dubai's market and the companies present today reflect this diversity,' noted Dr. Aisha Bilkhair, Supervisor at DWC's Career Center.
Last year, the first Employers Day hosted forty eight organizations which conducted more than 600 interviews during the day.
81% companies came from the private sector, 17% represented the semi-government sector, and only 2% were from the government sector.
The Career Center at DWC is a diligent department at DWC providing resources and programs that assist students and graduates to realize career opportunities, personal growth and academic success.
Its employment strategies program includes services such as work experience, career counseling, employment opportunities, and an in-depth program of job readiness workshops.
DWC students are trained on preparing for work experience, intercultural communication, work place realities, developing a positive professional attitude, employment trends, Emiratization support program, personality dimensions, and preparing for the job shadow experience.
