Delta Air Lines starts nonstop service between Amman and New York's JFK

Delta Air Lines is announcing the start of its new nonstop flight from Amman's Queen Alia International Airport to New York's - John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on Friday, 6 June 2008.
The new service is the only scheduled nonstop service, operated by a U.S. airline, between Jordan and the United States and will strengthen business and tourism links between the two countries.
"We are delighted to offer our customers from Jordan the opportunity to fly nonstop to New York, the world's largest travel market and leading financial centre," said Tony Charaf, Delta's president of Technical Operations.
"Travellers flying from Jordan will benefit from some 40 convenient connections throughout the United States and Canada to business and leisure destinations including Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, Tampa and Washington.
The new flight will also offer opportunities for freight forwarders and cargo shippers transporting commodities such as textiles.
On its inaugural flight, Delta will sponsor and transport internationally acclaimed art exhibition, Breaking the Veils: Women Artists from the Islamic World.
The exhibit includes 71 works of art from 51 women representing more than 20 Islamic countries, including Indonesia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq is scheduled to tour ten U.S. cities.
The debut will take place during a gala reception at the William J. Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 20.
Delta is the official airline sponsor for the Tour which is presented by The ArtReach Foundation, an Atlanta-based non-profit.
Breaking the Veils, inaugurated in 2002 by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, of Jordan, was organized by Her Royal Highness Princess Wijdan Al Hashemi, Ph.D., President of the Royal Society of Fine Art, Jordan, and the Pan Mediterranean Women Artists Network (F.A.M.) of Greece.
An evening reception under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa bint Ali will be held on Tuesday 3 June at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts to honor Delta as the Official airline sponsor for the U.S. Tour.
Charaf added: "We are proud to commemorate our new non-stop service from Amman to New York by transporting a truly historic exhibition of Islamic art and given our position as a global corporation, fully support cultural events that reflect the interests of our customers."
Delta's nonstop service between Amman and New York will be a two class service with 215 seats, 34 seats in Delta's award winning BusinessElite class and 181 seats in economy.
Delta's BusinessElite service features all-leather sleeper seats with 152 cm of legroom, innovative food offerings from celebrity chef Michelle Bernstein and the airline's on-demand personal in-seat entertainment that boasts more than 20 first-run and popular classic movies, a variety of TV programs, a broad range of music, and a suite of 12 video games.
Economy class customers also benefit from new all-leather economy seats, amenity kits and enhanced food offerings.
Delta's flight will have English and Arabic speaking flight attendants onboard, as well as offer Halal food options.
On arrival, Delta customers can also take advantage of Delta's Helicopter service (operated by US Helicopter) — which provides an eight-minute trip between John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Manhattan.
Helicopter rides are complimentary for customers booked with qualifying international BusinessElite fares while customers travelling in economy can also purchase return tickets.
