Etihad increases flights to India from Kuwait

Etihad Airways will launch flights on 1st August 2008 from its Abu Dhabi home base to Kozhikode (Calicut) and Chennai (Madras).
Etihad Airways will operate on a daily basis to Kozhikode (Calicut) from Kuwait via Abu Dhabi, taking off on times that meet the needs of passengers, whether from Kuwait or Abu Dhabi and finally leading to Calicut.
The Abu Dhabi based airline will also operate flights to Chennai (Madras) four times per week from Kuwait via Abu Dhabi.
Magdi Labib, Country Manager for Etihad Kuwait, said: "Etihad has made no secret of the fact that it wants to build up its Indian services through Abu Dhabi and Kuwait, and looks forward to expanding its flying programme from Kuwait due to the increasing amount of Indian expatriates that reside in Kuwait."
The coastal city of Kozhikode will be Etihad's third destination in Kerala, to add to its highly successful flights to Kochi (Cochin) and state capital, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum).
Chennai is located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal and is the capital of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Etihad will operate a two class Airbus A320 on both the Kozhikode and Chennai routes configured to carry 140 passengers with 20 in business class and 120 in economy class.
