Emirates' golfing year began in January with the Dubai Desert Classic and was followed by the Asian Open in Shanghai in April.
Emirates is, for the fourth consecutive year, the Official Carrier and Premium Sponsor of the Austrian Golf Open 2008, taking place south of Vienna at Fontana Golf Club, Oberwaltersdorf, from 5th to the 8th of June.
Markus Brier, Austria's leading Professional and winner of this tournament in 2006, will again be supported by Emirates.
Mike Simon, Emirates' Divisional Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, said: 'Emirates is very excited to once again be able to support Markus Brier at his home event, the scene of his emotional victory in 2006. We are also proud to be a sponsor of the Austrian Golf Open for the fourth consecutive time; the event is well established on the European PGA Tour and a good platform to present our high quality services to an international audience.'
Emirates will host a number of special activities during the tournament, such as 'Emirates Day' on Thursday, June 5th with free entrance for all golf supporters and a raffle to win flights to Dubai.
At the Pro Am on Wednesday, Austrian Ski star Rainer Schönfelder will play in one of the Emirates teams. Emirates will sponsor the 'Nearest-to-the-Pin' competition during the Pro Am, which will be combined with a fund-raising campaign for the 'Austrian Cancer Association.'
Emirates has been a leading supporter of golf worldwide and is the Official Airline at 10 golf tournaments around the world including the Austrian Open, BMW International Open, Dubai Desert Classic, BMW Asian Open, Malaysian Open, The Hong Kong Open, Volvo Asian Masters, Hero Honda Open, Australian PGA Championship and the Dubai Ladies Masters. Emirates is also a global supporter of football, rugby, horse racing and tennis.
Emirates' golf sponsorship travels to Austria
Vienna plays host to the next leg of Emirates' golf sponsorship of 2008 with the Austrian Golf Open, which tees off on Thursday.
