The packed National Day reception was welcomed by Consul General Roberto Vagani. Speaking on the occasion, he said: "We thank all the producers and importers of first quality Italian products to the Middle East who have always given a new life and meaning to our feelings. Among these important importers is Damas and its Managing Director, Tawhid Abdullah, whose name I would specially like to mention as he is a great friend of Italy. Damas has introduced more than 40 Italian jewellery brands in this country and has injected enormous momentum to Italian jewellery exports in the Middle East.

"I met him a few months back. During a personal conversation with Tawhid Abdullah, I was impressed by the strong ties he has with our country. Tawhid has a perfect knowledge of the Italian language and culture, besides which he has an abiding and deep love for our land. It motivated me to ask him to host a jewellery show on Italy's National Day. So we are very pleased to have tonight a jewellery show hosted by them."

Talking on the occasion Tawhid Abdullah said: "On behalf of everyone at Damas I would like to extend our hearty congratulations to the Italian Consul General, Roberto Vagni, on the occasion of the 62nd Anniversary of the Italian Republic Day. As the birthplace of the legendary Renaissance movement, Italy has traditionally been hailed for its art and culture and for its remarkable design excellence. It has presented the world some of its finest brands in practically every field, be it jewellery, clothing and numerous others."

"Damas has always pursued more innovative solutions to match the expectations of a growing fashion class in the region. We have always sought to showcase to our clients the finest jewellery brands, because of which, a large percentage of our brands are from Italy. Damas is in fact the first name in Italian jewellery brands in the region. It's a relationship that has grown closer and stronger over the years and is a much cherished bond. As such this event offers one of the most fitting and perfect occasions to celebrate this unique partnership and we hope will served as a key factor in bolstering economic cooperation and thereby strengthening UAE's strategic ties with Italy."

Among the well-known Italian jewellery brands showcased by Damas during the mesmerising fashion show were Annamaria Cammilli, Stefan Hafner, Io Si, Roberta Porrati, Rosato, Pasquale Bruni, and Utopia.
