Forum moves Poland-Jordan business in high mode

The 5th Polish-Jordanian Business Forum recently held in Amman was robust as local businessmen had the opportunity to meet their Polish counterparts to discuss business relations.

Each year Poland and Jordan move into higher gear as they cement their business relations.

Credit should go to the Embassy of Poland in Amman which has been annually organizing the Forum since 2004 under the theme of "Poland Closer" to stress the fact Poland wants to strengthen relations with the private sector in Jordan and the Arab world.

"The Business Forum has become very important for businessmen to establish relations as underpinned through joint cooperation between public-private sector cooperation," says the Polish Ambassador to Jordan Mr Andrzej Beira.

The forum was held under the patronage of the Minister of Trade and Industry Amer Al Hadidi to a packed hall that included local business from all walks of life including construction, information technology and tourism.

Upper House Senator and Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce Mr Haider Murad stressed the importance of the growing Polish-Jordan business relations while Bassem Farradj, president of the Jordan Europe Business Association, stressed the changing business climate in the Kingdom and its move towards a modern-based economy.

Mr Mohammad Halaiqa, chairman of the Jordanian-Business Business Council was also in attendance, stressing the importance of building business relations between the two countries who are both expressing much economic growth and are in an upward mode of growth.

The forum is encouraged by the Jordan Investment Board, the governmental organization which seeks to herald outside investment to the Kingdom, under its Chief Executive Offices Dr Maen Nsour. A full power-point presentation was given by researcher and senior media officer Dr Tareq Arikat.

He showed a detailed breakdown of the investment situation in Jordan, the opportunities, and the potentials through very important pieces of legislation that encourage foreign investors in Jordan.

Foreigners are coming in droves across-the-board, and nowhere is this more apparent than it is in the case of Polish tourists coming to Jordan. Statistics are remarkable. In 2006, 6000 Poles came to the country but by 2007, the figure shot up to 20000 and the figure for this year is expected to increase further still because of more direct flights between the two countries.
