Dubai Women Establishment launches National Corporate Child Care Project

Her Highness Sheikha Manal Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, President of Dubai Women Establishment (DWE) announced details of the National Corporate Child Care Project.

The initiative aims to establish daycare centers in every Government Department and Public Establishment across Dubai and to improve the standard of child care in Dubai by setting international benchmarks and incorporating local values, traditions and culture.

In addition, the initiative is going to create new employment opportunities for national women by providing appropriate training and employment in the daycare centers.

DWE is already working in association with several Government Departments to set up model daycare centers by the end of 2008. And will continue to conduct various forms of workshops reinforcing the importance of this initiative for departments and public establishments and to assist them in implementing this initiative within their respective departments.

Commenting on the initiative, Her Highness Sheikha Manal said, "This initiative is in-line with Dubai's vision to establish regional and international benchmarks for Child Care, enhancing the growth and development of children with working parents through a comprehensive and structured foundation programme which reflects our local environment and culture.

"The initiative is also aimed at applauding the efforts of working mothers and enhancing their contribution and impact to the UAE's socio-economic growth and development process".

The National Child Care Standards will be based on established findings and recognized benchmarks & procedures, that will address the areas of Care and Learning Activities, Safety and Security, Health Care, Nutrition, Partnership with Parents, Licensing and Administration, Building and Equipment, Organizational Structure.

DWE's national level initiative re-enforces Dubai Government's commitment towards the overall well-being of its employees, ensuring a perfect balance between work and home and providing appropriated care facilities for the proper growth and development of the children.

The initiative is in line with the UAE Cabinet policy on Child Care Centre Law, that encourages the development of a day care center for every Ministry, Authority, Public Establishments and Government Departments.
