Prince Turki Al Faisal Al Saud awarded the Prix De La Fondation

The award will be presented to him by Mr. Jacques Barrot, Vice President of the European Commission and Mr. Federico Mayor, Co-President, UN High Level Group for the Alliance of Civilizations during an during an Official Ceremony on June 28 in Monaco in the framework of the 19th Yearly Session of the Crans Montana Forum, June 26-29, 2008.

Prince Turki Al Faisal Al Saud will be distinguished for his efforts as one of the founders of the King Faisal foundation and the Chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies to promote an expanded dialogue with Islam and between Islamic, Christian and Jewish Groups.

The Prix De La Fondation has been awarded since 1989 and aspires to be a Pantheon of great modern instigators of Peace, Liberty and Democracy. It includes the essential characteristic of admission during one's lifetime although certain martyrs for Liberty, inseparable from world History have also been admitted posthumously.

It includes Men and Women of eminent merit, from all domains of social responsibility, who have in common their efforts in defence of the deep respect due to the fundamental values of Democracy and an ardent desire to create a better world.

Because of its strong symbolic value, The Prix De La Fondation is bestowed, not only in recognition of a task accomplished, but as a solemn encouragement in support of a cause and struggle undertaken for the same ideals.
