HP software kicks off Euro 2008 website championship

The 2008 UEFA European Football Championship, which started on June 7th, will be among the most viewed sporting events of the year with millions of viewers following their favourite team's progress online on individual websites across Europe.

As the players battle it out on the pitch, the HP Software-as-a-Service team will launch an online website tournament, 'Euro 2008 Website Championship,' which will run in parallel to Euro 2008 and will measure how well websites from selected European countries perform in relation to one another.

Mahmoud Mounir, Software Director, HP Middle East said, 'Businesses need to ensure their web-based applications deliver the desired end-user experience through implementing a comprehensive applications management strategy. It will be interesting to review the performance and the quality of end-user experience of selected websites during Euro 2008.'

The monitoring campaign will utilise HP's Software-as-a-Service for Quality Center which provides organisations with a hosted test management applications and ongoing mentoring on best practices.

HP Quality Center is designed to address the wide-ranging challenges that quality assurance professionals face.

By leveraging consistent, repeatable and standardised processes Quality Center helps turn application quality into a competitive advantage.

The winning country will be announced at the end of the online website tournament.

Participating countries in the Euro 2008 Website Championship include all those that have qualified for the championships: Austria, Czech Republic, Romania, Netherlands, Spain, France, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Poland, Russia, Greece, Switzerland and England and also an additional group of non-qualifiers Norway, Finland, Denmark, Belgium and England.

Regular results of the Euro 2008 Website Championship can be followed on a dedicated HP microsite that will be announced on Monday, June 9, 2008.
