Sales were led by the region's favourite luxury sedan the incomparable S-Class, the entry-level C-Class and the continuing popularity of the mid-size E-Class. Sales of the region's largest SUV range were also steady.

"As the distributor with the highest number of sales in the Middle East and Levant in 2007, Gargash Enterprises is continuing to grow and expects to improve on last year's results,"

said Ewan Ramsey, General Manager.

"With a range of new vehicles arriving in our showrooms in the next few months culminating in the launch of the first compact SUV from Mercedes-Benz at the end of the year, I am confident that we will more than meet our ambitious target and continue to be the region's leading distributor."

The May sales for Gargash were instrumental in Mercedes-Benz Middle East & Levant showing a massive 31% increase in sales with deliveries of 1687 compared to 1286 last year.

This is the fifth month in succession this year that Mercedes-Benz has shown a significant increase in deliveries which now stand at 8346 for the year.

"In spite of unrest in Lebanon and elections in Kuwait, our performance transcends what is traditional a slower month for sales and indicates that we have the right range of luxury cars and SUVs that truly delight our increasing family of customers," said Frank Bernthaler, Director, Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Middle East & Levant.
