The students, who belonged to the Electronics Engineering division of the college, visited the site on a scientific field trip to gain a deeper understanding into how applications work in communication systems and enhance their training towards achieving a BTEC Higher National Diploma.

Established by the Dubai Government in 2006, EIAST is a strategic initiative that aims to inspire scientific innovation and foster technological advancement within the UAE and the region by carrying out path-breaking research and scientific applications.

It is in sync with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, and will go a long way in promoting sustainable development and economic growth in the UAE. The institute is already well on its way to become a world-class science and technology organization, and can take credit for building the indigenous satellite Dubai Sat 1, which will be space-bound by the end of this year.

The students were welcomed by Mr. Ahmed Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of EIAST who shared with them the objectives of the institution and its main scientific programs.

They were then accompanied by the staff and their teachers to an exclusive demonstration of the antenna control system used by EIAST thanks to Mr. Salim Al Marri, an engineer at the institute.

This was followed by a fascinating tour through the control room and the other labs at EIAST, giving them a glimpse at what lies in store once they are done with their education. On the whole, it was a fascinating day out for the students of Dubai's premier aviation institute.

It will go a long way in realizing the vision and reason behind establishing EIAST, which was to inspire the next generation to venture into scientific research and lay the foundations for a star-studded future for the UAE.
