In life saving situations, speed and distance make a lot of difference.

The relevance and inevitability of air medical services comes to play at this point of time.

An almost new concept for the region - air ambulance, air rescue, air evacuation and other medical transport services, is in focus for the very first time in the entire Middle East with the launch of the first Dubai Air Medical & Rescue Show 2008.

The show will be held alongside Dubai Helishow 2008 at East Hall, Airport Expo, Dubai, UAE from 11th to 13th November 2008.

The growth of international health care needs has spurred the growth and evolution of the air medical and rescue services in the Middle East utilizing private, medically equipped, fixed wing and rotary aircrafts.

Commenting on the event, Ms. Maysoon A. Abulhoul, Deputy Managing Director, Mediac Communications & Exhibitions LLC said 'Being the first of its kind event in the region, the exhibition will reveal the crucial role played by air transportation in transferring patients when other modes of travel by land or sea would prove difficult or dangerous. It will feature leading global as well as regional players including Abu Dhabi Police Air Wing - UAE, FAI Rent-a-Jet AG - Germany, International Medical & Rescue (IMR) - Jordan\Kuwait and Saudi HEMS. Among the indoor displays will be the new AW139 EMS helicopter.'

Key professionals will be invited from the emergency medical and critical care sectors like: Senior Management, Program Directors, Medical Directors, Doctors, Paramedics, Pilots, Aircraft operators & manufacturers, Specialist role equipment, Communications, Interiors, Medical Evacuation equipment, Air Ambulances, Emergency Medical Technicians & EMT Vehicles.

Among the recent developments in the air medical and rescue services in the regions are:
Royal Jet, the award-winning international luxury flight services provider headquartered in Abu Dhabi, recently introduced Royal Med - a new division for providing the highest quality of aero-medical transport.

Besides adding infrastructure, personnel and aircraft, Royal Med is adding the Learjet 60 to enhance its flexibility in medical evacuation (medevac) services and to offer a greater flying range. The Learjet 60 brings the number of aircraft used for patient transfer to nine, in four different aircraft types.

Each aircraft is fitted out with state-of-the-art equipment and intensive care facilities, enabling critical care patient transfer and medical evacuations. It already has two Learjet 35As (L35).

Abu Dhabi Aviation is already in the industry providing 24/7 medevac coverage for all local Abu Dhabi based oil companies on the offshore as well as desert locations.

Prestige Jet - the fast-growing new private aviation company of Abu Dhabi International Airport and Al-Ain Airport, has recently signed an agreement with Flight Ambulance International (FAI), a world leader in medical evacuation and repatriation services.

According to the agreement, Prestige Jet becomes the exclusive representative for FAI in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain and will offer a worldwide air ambulance services for patients - for transporting them between the two cities and any destination in the world.

The Saudi Red Crescent Society plans to expand its air ambulance services to cover every area within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Society has already signed an agreement with the European Aero-Medical Institute to conduct a study on the prospects of implementing air ambulance services throughout the kingdom.

A must-attend event, Dubai Air Medical & Rescue Show along with Dubai Heishow will together provide a 'one-stop' centre for all requirements relating to helicopter technologies & operations and air medical & rescue services.
