Dr. Jaber Al Jaberi, Director of Environment Policy Sector, said that EAD was certified after adopting and implementing an integrated management system for quality, environment, health and safety (QEHS) that covered all its processes and activities and which ensured its commitment to customers.

By achieving this certification, EAD has succeeded in achieving international standards in the management of quality, environment, health and safety issues.

Dr. Jaber said, "EAD began implementing this system in May 2007, after a specialized company was commissioned. It mainly aimed at improving and coordinating all operations and procedures conducted by EAD and it was also in line with the requirements of Abu Dhabi Emirate EHS policy."

The project was implemented through 5 phases which included Gap Analysis, Project Planning, Documentation, Training and Implementation. As an outcome of the project, an Environment, Health and Safety Policy was developed as well as a corporate procedures manual.

Around 200 EAD employees attended the QEHS awareness workshops, where some of them were also trained as internal auditors in order to regularly monitor and improve the system.

By acquiring this certification, EAD succeeded in complying with QEHS international standards in all its processes and activities.

In the field of quality, this reflects EAD's interest in continuous development and provision of excellent services to customers. In environmental management, this system will help minimize pollution, while in health and safety this system will minimize risks and provide a safe and healthy work place for employees.

The certification period is for 3 years and the system will be reviewed by the issuing body on an annual basis. An internal review will also be conducted every 6 months by EAD auditors.
