Pre-cast rooms are answer to labour shortage

  • United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, June 10 - 2008 at 15:03

George Wood, construction manager at New York-based Parsons Brinckerhoff, told delegates at the Meed Building Tall Conference in Dubai that pre-fabricated room pods were the answer to the labour shortages afflicting developers in the emirate. 'A hotel like Asia-Asia has 6,500 odd rooms. Pre-cast room pods are clearly the answer in situations like these as they reduce labour and the client still gets a quality product,' Wood said. Parsons Brinckerhoff is currently working on the Burj Al Alam tower in Dubai, which is slated to be the world's tallest commercial building.
