The ECSSR organizes a lecture entitled, 'Arab National Security, Constituents and Challenges'

In its series of lectures organized by the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research, which cover different issues the ECSSR has organized its (292) lecture.

H.H. Sheikh Hamed Bin Zayed AL Nahyan, Chairman of the Crown Prince's Diwan, Member of the Executive Council, attendeed the lecture entitled, "Arab National Security
Constituents and Challenges", which was delivered by H.E. Dr. Mostafa Othman Ismail, Adviser to the President, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs in Republic of Sudan.

The lecturer presented the term National Security which involved many dimensions which included politics, Economy, Social and education.

He stressed on the Islamic concept of National Security shedding light on Islam and how it deals with life concerning that issue.

Mr. Ismail stressed on the factors and the effects which had weakened the components that supports Arab National Security, such as Israel and the process of peace in the Middle East that proves that there will be no peace on the short or the long term.

The war of Iraq on Kuwait. US colonization over Iraq, Poor conditions of Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan and Somalia.

The bad relations between Arab countries.

He raised some questions about Arab National Security which included: Why there is no Arab National Security. Is it the lack of determination or lack of the concept of National Security in the Arab World? Does Economic Summits presents a path to the concept of Arab National Security?

The lecturer discussed the concept of National Security and talked about military Allies established in the last century such as "NATO" and "WARSO", and they both had an impact over National Security.

Ismail said that Arab National Security depends on basic dimensions such as, political dimension which preserves the country's structure.

The economic dimension presented by the population's special needs.

The social dimensions, ideology and environment.

Political movements and how it deals with Arab National Security and the conflicts between radical movements and other movements that doesn't have any idea how to deal with this concept.

He stressed on the importance of finding the relation between Arab National Security and regional Security of each country.

He talked about the mechanisms of Arab National Security, like the "The Arab joint Military Agreement", where he analyzed the terms and the organizations involved, and how they perform to support Arab National Security.

He also mentioned "Security Council and Arab Peace", which was established on 2006 and praised the effort of the Secretary General of the Arab League to make the council work.

In addition, the future of the Arab National Security was raised, where Ismail pressed on the importance of facing the challenges that faces the Arab countries.

He also discussed about the foreign penetration on Arab Lands.

The use of Oil as a weapon to support Arab National Security.

The need of solving Arabs disputes.

Finally, set a plan to interact with International Forces and find a peaceful nuclear program to provide sufficient energy for economical development.
