Over 1.5bn people lost Dhs1bn to cyber criminals last year

According to the Norton Cybercrime Report, more than 1.5 million people fell victim to cybercrime in the UAE in the past 12 months, suffering Dhs1.039bn in direct financial losses, Khaleej Times has reported. In the UAE, 46% of the country's social networking users have fallen victim to cybercrime on social networking platforms, the study said. "Of the social networking users, 31% adults have been a victim of social or mobile cybercrime in the past twelve months in the UAE compared with the 21% globally," it said.
