- PRESS RELEASE
Etihad Airways is set to boost its summer Geneva service from Sunday 22 June, as a result of increased demand from leisure travellers wishing to visit Switzerland's second biggest city.
Geert Boven, Etihad Airways' executive vice president sales and services, said: "Etihad offers a wealth of destinations for customers to visit during the summer months and Geneva is undoubtedly one of our top selling cities for the expatriate market and UAE nationals."
"Demand for Etihad's flights to Geneva has increased year-on-year and Etihad is pleased to respond once again to its customers and provide an additional service during the busy summer period."
Geneva was one of Etihad's first destinations with flights to the Swiss city starting on 5 June 2004, only seven months after the launch of the airline's first flight.
During the summer months it is one of Etihad's most popular routes with an average seat factor of 85%.
In addition to its position as one of Europe's most popular summer destinations, Geneva is also a host city for the UEFA Euro 2008 tournament which has led to greater demand from holiday makers looking to visit the city.
Etihad operates a three cabin Airbus A330-200 to Geneva which is configured to carry 10 passengers in first class, 26 passengers in business class and 164 passengers in economy class.
The additional summer flight, EY051, will depart Abu Dhabi every Sunday at 2.35pm and arrive in Geneva at 7.25pm.
The return flight, EY052, will depart from Geneva at 9.50pm and arrive in Abu Dhabi at 6.05am the next morning. All times are local.
