The new router features the same sleek industrial design as the recently launched Ultra RangePlus family of Wireless-N products (WRT160N and WAG160N).
The WRT54G2 features a new slim and curved profile that has graced the Linksys by Cisco WRT160N and WAG160N.
The design complements any fashionable living room.
Users can now proudly display their new router alongside HDTVs and Hi-Fi systems, instead of hiding it under a cupboard or behind a curtain.
In addition to its sleek design, the WRT54G2 also features an internal antenna technology that integrates the antenna into the router body without compromising signal coverage.
'The successful Linksys by Cisco WRT54G is an iconic product in home networking. We have worked with that high benchmark and improved its performance further, made t easier to use and updated it with our latest industrial design,' said Mohammad Hoda, Regional Manager, Linksys Middle East and Africa.
Linksys took an extensive approach to develop the new industrial designs.
Detailed market research was conducted to reveal consumer preferences in design.
Out of the 160+ designs that were reviewed, consumers preferred sleek, contemporary styles that blended seamlessly with fashionable home environments.
The decision to include internal antennas and new color palette were also results of the extensive market research.
Besides the new design, the WRT54G2 is shipped with the Linksys EasyLink Advisor (LELA) application, which is a technology advisor that helps make life easier for the consumer.
This simple-to-use software package is designed to take away the technical hassle of setting up a wireless network and helps keeping the network secure and connected.
LELA will automatically check for updates for all Linksys products on the network, and can securely configure other connected devices and computers.
The intuitive interface will help simplify set-up and maintenance of a home network - making it easier and more accessible than ever before.
Users without networking experience will also appreciate how LELA can help scan the network for issues, troubleshoot and attempt to resolve any potential conflicts. No more techno talk or passwords required.
The security can be configured with just one simple button on the WRT54G2.
The WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) feature is designed to help make securing wireless devices easier.
Simply push the WPS button on the router and on another WPS-enabled wireless device to create an encrypted wireless connection between them.
