Nakheel's Waterfront receives sustainability accolade at Facilities Management Awards

Nakheel saw off tough competition in the hotly contested category of Sustainable Initiatives and was highly commended by the judges for its efforts in obtaining one of the Middle East's first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certifications. The award recognises Nakheel's achievements in implementing recycling, energy and water reduction programmes, pushing for sustainable building practices and its involvement with corporate and social responsibility initiatives.

The inaugural Facilities Management Middle East Awards, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Dubai, set out to raise the profile of the industry and reward and recognise those that have made significant contributions to its development. The award categories cover a number of fields from excellence in customer service to facilities management.

Palm Canal Towers is one of the first high-rise developments in the beach fronted Madinat Al Arab district in Waterfront. It will comprise of six mixed-use towers.

Located on the western shores of Dubai, the entire Waterfront development will transform 1.4 billion square feet of empty desert and sea into an international community for an estimated population of 1.5 million people that is twice the size of Hong Kong Island.
