Progress accelerates on SIC project as developer deploys additional manpower, machinery

SNASCO, master developer of the Sharjah Investment Centre (SIC), has released the latest updates on the much awaited development's progress, reporting that construction continues to move ahead on schedule.

Work on the site has been stepped up, with additional manpower and machinery resources having been made available, in order to ensure that the pace is maintained.

Meanwhile, safety requirements and quality assurance continue to enjoy priority on the site.

Dr Omar Al Mashaabi, General Manager of SNASCO and Managing Director of the SIC, reported that significant progress has been made in various aspects of the first phase of the project, which has been divided up into three major areas, A, B and C, saying,

'The excavation and backfilling have been completed for the sewerage and potable water networks throughout phase one and for the storm water network in area A, and has begun for areas B and C. Excavation and backfilling have also commenced in the second phase of the project.

'Pipe lines have also been fitted for the sewerage and potable water networks for all of phase one, while the piping for the storm water network is complete in area A, and is being fitted in areas B and C. Pipelines are also being prepared in the second phase of the project.

'In the meantime, approvals have been received from SEWA on the shop drawings for the project's electrical networks. 11Kv substation foundations are currently under construction, and GRP enclosures for the electric network have been ordered.'

The developer has also nominated a subcontractor, who has been approved by the firm's consultant, to design the project's state-of-the-art district cooling system, and has received the go-ahead to submit shop drawings for approval.

Further progress is also reported on the mega-project's road network, with road formation completed in areas A and B and crossing ducts having been installed in these areas.

Work has commenced on the sub base and road base layers for the roads in area A.
