  • PRESS RELEASE

Dubai World Central Aviation City, home to the largest maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) centre in the world, has signed a deal with UAE based Majestic Wings Private Airplane Charter LLC, to set up the project's second fixed base operations (FBO) facility with an investment value of Dhs200m.

The contract was signed on the sidelines of the Aircraft Interiors Middle East (AIME) 2008 show being held at the Dubai International Exhibition & Convention Centre on 16-17 June 2008 by Abdulla Al Qurashi, CEO, DWC Aviation City and Ahmed Hassan Ahmed Al Housani, CEO, Majestic Wings.

The 79,000 square feet facility which will cater to the jet aviation support services industry will be built within Dubai World Central - the 140 square kilometre urban land project centred around Al Maktoum International Airport, set to be the world's largest on completion.

Under the agreement, Majestic Wings will build their own facilities to offer the full range of FBO services with a focus on business jets.

"The Middle East FBO and maintenance, repair & overhaul (MRO) market is growing at 9% annually and aviation service providers are experiencing a distinct lack of world-class aviation infrastructure facilities in the region," said Abdulla Al Qurashi, CEO, DWC Aviation City.

"DWC Aviation City is preparing a full range of aviation services infrastructure and with companies like Majestic Wings signing up with high-value investments, the DWC project is an answer to the industry's growing demands."

Majestic Wings will own two Gulfstream G200 aircraft which will be sub-leased for use by corporates for business trips, freight transport and special large group-flights.

The company is owned by His Excellency Sheikh Hamad Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan and His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa Bin Hamad Al Nahyan.

Al Qurashi added: "Any company applying to DWC Aviation City undergoes in-depth scrutiny and well rounded analysis in term of their business plan, their planned operation and their fit to the project's master plan. Majestic Wings is going to offer executive services that are somehow new to the region though growing worldwide."

DWC Aviation City is a unique concept to establish a complete aviation cluster in one area to cater to the region's aviation growth, strategically located to provide clients access to emerging markets as well as servicing the fast growing Middle East market.
